Matchday 4 predictions

April 21, 2020

The fourth instalment of the Remote Darts League opening event takes place this Tuesday night. All of the live action begins at 9.30 pm and can be watched live on the link here: https://bit.ly/RDL2020Watch

Tony O'Shea v Dean Winstanley (21:30)

Our first game of the night sees 'Silverback' take on 'Over the Top', a great way to kick proceedings off. Based on the first three nights O'Shea will start as slight favourite despite last night's comprehensive defeat by Jim Williams. He has shown he's in decent form though, picking up three points from three games. Winstanley has progressed each nigh. On Monday night he lost to Paul Hogan but showed great battling qualities in a narrow 7-5 defeat and with further improvement tonight can really put it up to O'Shea. I think this could be a close one and I wouldn't be surprised to see a draw.

Prediction: 6-6 draw

John Walton v James Richardson (22:00)

Given the form over the first three nights it's difficult to look beyond anything but a comfortable win for 'Ruthless'. Walton so far has struggled with consistency, but did pick up his first point in a scrappy affair with Wes Newton on Monday. If he is to get anything here a major change of form is required. James on the other hand was in superb form last night and sits second on 5 pts in the table. He will have too much firepower for Walton and I can see him running out a comfortable winner.

Prediction: Richardson to win 7-2

Paul Hogan v Wes Newton (22:30)

Match 3 sees 'Crocodile Dundee' take on 'The Warrior'. Again, going on the first three nights I can only see one victor. Hogan has been threatening to explode, with some of his prolific scoring just being let down by a few missed doubles and after three nights he sites with four points. Newton has picked up three points so far, but will need a vast improvement if he is to take anything from this match. With Hogan on throw he'll be putting Newton under pressure from the start and I'm tipping him to win this comfortably.

Prediction: Hogan to win 7-3

Darryl Fitton v Jim Williams (23:00)

The fourth match is definitely the game of the night. This could be a very high scoring contest. 'The Dazzler' has been in good form, picking up four points from his first three games including a surprise 7 3 rout over an out of sorts Alan Norris. However Williams has proven he is the man to beat and if he continues the high scoring and clinical finishing which saw off Tony O'Shea on Monday, all things point to him winning this encounter and doing the double over the two legends. Fitton will need a good start to make this a close one, but with Williams on a roll it'll be hard to stop the Welshman making it four out of four.

Prediction: Williams to win 7-4

Gary Robson v Alan Norris (23:30)

Our final game of the night sees two men who have picked up two points each from their first three games collide. After both suffering heavy defeats last night, both will be up for this clash here. Robson didn't do much wrong in a 7-2 defeat to Richardson, his opponent was just too good. Norris, who after an out of sorts display in a 7-3 defeat to Darryl Fitton really needs to get his league back on track tonight, will be hoping he can up his form and claim the two points. Robson will be confident and won't let Norris have things his own way, but I have a feeling the rustiness is about to be cast off by Alan and he takes this victory.

Prediction: Norris to win 7-5
