Friday night predictions - Winstanley to win battle of the bottom

April 24, 2020

We're edging closer to the end of the league phase of the Remote Darts League opening event. Five more crucial matches on Friday night and our man Colin Savage shares his predictions. Watch all the action tonight here.

Dean Winstanley v John Walton (21:30)

In our first game of the night, the bottom two battle it out. An all Yorkshire Derby here, and with both's aspirations of a Top 4 place now firmly gone, tonight's clash is all about pride and local bragging rights. Both men have struggled for form so far, but now the pressure is off, tonight may see an improvement in both. Whilst I think this will be a scrappy affair and not much in it, in terms of scoring, I can see Winstanley getting his first points on the board this evening.

Prediction: Winstanley to win 7-5

Jim Williams v Alan Norris (22:00)

The second game of the night sees tournament favourite Jim Williams take on Alan Norris. Williams was back to his scintillating best on Thursday night and the omens don't look good for Norris after a heavy 7-0 whitewash loss at the hands of Paul Hogan. To his credit though, Norris did give himself several opportunities early doors, but failed to capitalise. It's very difficult to look beyond another convincing win for 'The Quiff', and I'm taking him here to further cement his place in the battle for the Top 4

Prediction: Williams to win 7-2

Tony O'Shea v James Richardson (22:30)

Match three sees the ever popular 'Silverback' take on our league leader 'Ruthless'. O'Shea extended his unbeaten run to three games on Thursday night with a quality 6-6 draw with Gary Robson. He's going to need to show that kind of performance again here against a really in-form and confident Richardson. 'Ruthless' has been ripping it up the past six nights, and whilst I think this could be a closer game than many we have witnessed, I'm taking Richardson to close this one out and all but guarantee himself qualification for the semi-finals

Prediction: Richardson to win 7-4

Darryl Fitton v Wes Newton (23:00)

The fourth match sees an all Lancashire clash. 'The Dazzler' takes on 'The Warrior' here, and after a demolition of Winstanley on Night Six will be brimming with confidence. His scoring and finishing in general has been excellent, with big checkouts at the right time. On the other hand Wes continues to struggle as he looks for a spark to reignite the form that took him to the upper echelons of the PDC. I can't see anything here other than a convincing win for Fitton, to put himself in with a real shout of making the Top 4.

Prediction: Fitton to win 7-2

Gary Robson v Paul Hogan (23:30)

Friday's closer sees 'Big Robbo' take on 'Crocodile Dundee'. This has all the trimmings of a cracker. Robson has played quite beautifully the last few nights to get himself firmly in contention for the top 4 and he will have to continue that if he wants to have any chance of prevailing here. What can you say about the undefeated Hogan, he has just gone from strength to strength with high scoring and clinical finishing (arguably his downfall in the past). This could be anything from 7-4 each way to a 6-6 draw, but I just think Hogan's momentum will see him win this.

Prediction: Hogan to win 7-4
